Interior Project
Progress Report

12/24/02 - Completed the project!  Received the rear panels and center console yesterday.  Installed the rear panels, rear seats, rear head rests, center console, front seats, and polished stainless steel sill plates.  Also rewired amplifiers and reconnected battery and alarm switch.

12/20/02 - Finished Dynamatting the floor pans.  Installed the black carpet and reinstalled the seat belts, emergency brake lever and kick panels.  I will now have to wait for the arrival of the center console and rear panels to finish up the project.

12/18/02 - Glove compartment, left vent, steering column panels, key lock cylinder, steering wheel, instrument bezel, knee bolster plate and  panel, door panels, and Mach 460 tweeter pods were installed.  Steering wheel air bag was painted and installed.  Floor pans were cleaned and dynamat laying was started.  After much thought, I decided to purchase a new center console, right vent, and rear panels.  The vent would have been difficult to paint.  The rear panels and center console are prone to scratches and painting just didn't seem like a wise idea.  The parts were ordered and hopefully will be here by early next week.

12/17/02 - More parts removed.  Today the steering wheel, air bag, key cylinder, steering column upper and lower covers, knee bolster panel and metal support, instrument bezel, vents, and door panels were removed.  After the removal of the remaining parts, the dash was prepped for painting.  The prepping consisted of a scrub down with dish washing detergent, followed by a brillo pad, and then a rinse.  Once dried, acetone was applied.  After masking the area, the dash with painted with several coats of interior dye followed by clear sealant.  At around 6PM I get a call from the upholstery shop telling me the seats were done.  Seats were picked up shortly afterwards.

12/16/02 - The project has begun!!  Today the seats were removed and taken to the upholstery shop to have the FR500 seats fitted.  Most parts were removed from the interior to include:  rear upper and lower panels, rear head rest, sill plates, scuff plates, kick panels, glove compartment, seat belt fasteners, center console, and carpet.  Also the stainless steel sill plates from UPR arrived today.  They were a gift from my parents.

12/12/02 - FR500 seats have arrived!!

12/07/02 - A major change in plans for the project.  I was able to obtain several interior pieces from a wrecked 96 GT.  Because of this, the only pieces that will now need painting are the dashboard, airbag covers, rear panels, and the center console.  I also acquired the carpet from the wrecked Mustang.  It will need to be cleaned.

12/01/02 - FR500 seats have been ordered and are in the process of being made.

11/23/02 - Acquired acetone, gloves, sanding paper, limited amount of interior black paint, primer, and sealer.  Test painted the driver's side door sill.  The sill turned out great and matched the rest of the interior.  More materials will be acquired soon.
